2026.01.22 Iowa's EWS/MTSS News: IMPORTANT FastBridge Screening Information

Disabling Browser Extension(s), Related Student Aides

It was recently discovered that one, and possibly other, browser extensions can be used by students to obtain answers during certain computer-delivered screening assessments. A confirmed issue exists with the Google Lens extension during aReading and CBM CAP administrations. It is possible that other browser extensions or add-ons could also be used to access answers and thereby invalidate screening results.

The assessment provider, Renaissance Learning, has been notified of this issue.

For the remainder of the current screening window and for all future screening windows, schools should disable Google Lens and any similar browser extensions during assessment administration. Schools should also review their winter screening data to determine whether and to what extent this issue may have affected their results.

The winter screening window closes February 6th.

Math and English Language Arts Standard Setting

The following opportunity is open to Iowa Educators and not directly tied to the Panorama Student Success MTSS data system or the FAST assessments: 

The Department is seeking qualified individuals to participate in a performance standard setting for the next generation Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP). In 2024, the State Board of Education adopted updated rigorous academic standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. These standards define what is expected for all students to know and be able to do by grade level. 

The performance standard setting will take place June 8 to June 12, 2026 in Des Moines. The Department is recruiting approximately 170 individuals with knowledge and expertise in the updated academic standards in ELA and Mathematics. A $200 per day honorarium will be paid and travel (including lodging) will be covered. Applications are open until February 9, 2026 at 5:00PM.
